Investor praise for Belvoir Rochester
“We cannot praise them highly enough, there are very few who operate with such integrity”
Owners of Belvoir Rochester Karen and Peter Huane have certainly made an impression with local investors.
“Both myself and my partner would very much like to commend the excellent service provided by Karen and Peter Huane of your Rochester office,” says investor Sue Burnett-Frank in a letter to CEO and founder of Belvoir Lettings Mike Goddard.
“We were fortunate enough to be referred to Karen Huane by an Estate Agent in the area who gave her glowing references ,” she continues. “They said that since they had used her services, the quality of tenant she had found for them and her undoubted professionalism had resulted in a far smoother ride. Karen was given high praise indeed and I have since found that they were entirely correct in their assessment of her.”
In April of 2007 Sue Burnett-Frank and business partner Devan Patel were making tenative enquires about the possibility of starting a small portfolio of buy-to-let properties. The information, assistance, support and knowledge provided by both Karen and Peter Huane proved invaluable and within a very short space of time Sue and Devan had bought three properties in Strood, with plans to increase this by a further six flats over the next 12 months.
“When we purchased our first property, Karen visited each house on our shortlist and offered advice on all, including location, rentable income against expected mortgage, recommending the property that she felt would give us the best return,” says Sue. “And, she also advised on how we should best present the property to ensure speedy rental and, on our first day, within minutes of us depositing paint in preparation for redecoration, Karen had not only shown the property but had successfully rented it for us.”
Sue and Devan’s second and third properties were just as successful, with Karen and Peter finding tenants ready to move in straight away on completion. “We were immensely grateful and astonished at the speed with which they worked to complete the rental for us,” says Sue. “We cannot praise them highly enough, there are very few who operate with such integrity and we would hope that we are able to continue to work with and be supported by them as we increase our portfolio. We have the utmost faith in their abilities and support.”
“It’s lovely to get recognition for our service,” says Karen of Belvoir Rochester. “We pride ourselves on good customer service so it’s great to receive praise for what we’ve achieved.”
“The local market is saturated with letting agents,” she continues. “But, despite stiff competition, we’re doing well. We have no rent arrears, offer good customer service and do exactly what we say on the tin.”
Karen and Peter took on Belvoir Rochester in February 2007. Karen had previously been an airport manager and a bank manager. Peter had spent six years as MD of a marketing company.
“With my customer service background and Peter’s experience in management, we decided to join forces and open our own business,” says Karen. “We wanted to find something that would play to both of our strengths and fell into property management because we’d had a bad experience selling our own house. It started us thinking we could better than that and the idea snow-balled from there.”
After extensive research, Karen and Peter decided to invest in Belvoir, which is recognised as the largest specialist letting franchise agency in the UK.
“Peter researched several different franchise opportunities and Belvoir seemed the right one for us,” says Karen. “We were impressed by its clearly identified branding and the promise of on-going support. We’re pleased we can pass on some of what we’ve learnt from Belvoir to our customers.”
