Kettering; Local Information

Road -
The dual carriageway A14 Trunk Road gives Kettering a unique advantage - fast access to Britain`s three principal south-north highways, providing eastern, central and western routes across the country.

Kettering`s location in the A14 continues to be a strong factor in its economic growth and attractiveness to relocating companies. Only 80 miles north of London, 45 miles west of Cambridge and 45 miles east of Birmingham the boroughs positioning on the national road network places businesses within a 2-hour drive of 75 % of the UK`s population.

The A14 joins the M1 at Junction 19 with the main route in the west to Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Manchester and Liverpool. In central England the M1 links London, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester, Sheffield and Leeds.

Rail -
A mainline rail route gives Kettering fast and regular train services to London St Pancras, Nottingham, Leicester, Leeds and Manchester. Kettering is just 55 minutes from London St Pancras using trains operated by Midland Mainline. Everyday there are 25 passenger trains in each direction between London and Kettering.

Connections for other destinations are available, including direct services to Nottingham and Sheffield.

Air -
Kettering boasts easy access to no less than four excellent airports - Stansted, Birmingham International, East Midlands and Luton - offering a wide range of flights, both domestic and international. All are about an hour`s drive time from Kettering.
Direct service destinations from Stansted and Luton include Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Paris and St Petersburg.

Direct flights are available from East Midlands Airport to destinations such as Amsterdam, Belfast, Brussels, the Channel Islands, and Paris. The Airport has embarked on a £10 million development plan which will improve the standard of passenger facilities and increase the passenger terminal`s capacity to three million passengers a year.

East Midlands Airport is regarded as the UK`s top airport for pure cargo and mail with a throughput of over 9100 tonnes. This coincided with the opening of a new 25,000 sq m freight apron.
